AehrasYT Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 I prefer the fully orchestrated version of 4'33" myself. It's got such a rich texture. John cage is an amazing composer and should be the only thing taught to anybody ever. Quote
johannhowitzer Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 LOL, I can just imagine some poor student fidgeting while the teacher fusses over his posture! Quote

If we everybody learned how to play 4'33 we'd probably have the only 4 minutes of peace on earth in the history of humanity. Quote

johannhowitzer Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 we'd probably have the only 4 minutes of peace on earth in the history of humanity.I heard somewhere that in all of history there have only been about 12 days of total peace. What I've yet to discover is how someone found that out! Quote
CaltechViolist Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I heard somewhere that in all of history there have only been about 12 days of total peace. What I've yet to discover is how someone found that out! I assume it's how many days of recorded history there have been without a declared war going on somewhere on the planet. Chances are, every one of those 12 days of "total peace" have still featured, at the very least, a bar fight or something equivalent. Quote
giselle Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 ....Chances are, every one of those 12 days of "total peace" have still featured, at the very least, a bar fight or something equivalent. For whatever reason, that concept sent me into a fit of giggles. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 Isn't this thread dead yet? Quote
I'm my own Toccata Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 The day after I found out about Ligeti, he died. Just a coincidence. . . Or was it? Yeah... P.S. Metamorphoses Nocturnes made me throw up in my throat . . . I cried . . . and I'm pretty sure I had a head cold. Quote
