maestrowick Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Alright y'all! What are you working on this month? Me, working on a cello concerto and a band piece!!! 2 Quote
JFTFT Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Setting a text for solo vocal and a chamber ensemble, arranging a piece, and composing a piece for a separate chamber group, plus I need to write something for my 20-century theory class. Quote
bkho Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Struggling on the Recordare movement for my Requiem. Quote
pateceramics Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Nothing for the next little bit, too many concerts. (: Quote
Austenite Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Revising the third movement my Piano Sonata N° 1, Op. 3 (the first two movements are already done and performance-ready). Also took some time to make a couple tweaks in my first two "formal" compositions. And filed the paperwork for copyright of some of my pieces (while planning to do so with the rest in a fairly near future). 1 Quote
Ken320 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) I'm working on a competition where the theme is to write something that evokes a beverage. I've narrowed down the instrumentation to be Stravinsky's ensemble for L'histoire du soldat, a small band, but with the addition of piano. The beverage will be coffee, having given up on my sketches for lilac wine... The music will be hopped up, wired and possibly psychotic. If I win I'll post it here. KJthesleepdeprived Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Reworking my old "Portrait in Indigo" for piano and also making a little arrangement/fusion of some tv show themes I really like. All of which will certainly end up here when I finish them. Quote
robinjessome Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I'm lifting & arranging a couple new med-large ensemble charts for upcoming shows. Tunes from Oliver Nelson's Blues and the Abstract Truth has been on my list of "tunes I wanna lift" for a while. I have a show coming up where Blunt Object is recreating Birth of the Cool, but since it's only, like, 40 minutes long, I need some more music to fill out two more sets. ;) 1 Quote
Noah Brode Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I just finished a light Classical-style Divertimento for Strings that I posted here, but I am continuing to work on a set of about 15-20 short symphonic dances that I'm hoping to arrange as a ballet someday, if anyone would be willing to produce it. My young daughter is very interested in dancing and ballet, so my ultimate goal is to have her perform in it eventually. It's taken me about 6-8 months so far, and I'm nowhere near being finished. I may just post what I have in the "Unfinished" section soon to get some initial feedback. (Long answer to a short question) Quote
