Sojar Voglar Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 This is my first large scale concerto. It was created throughout 2001 and 2002. Observing it with my current mind and ear I am still happy with use of cello and its balance with orchestra but I am not so pleased with formal approach. It is probably too fragmented and uses expressive waves up and down a bit too much. So I will probaby consider to compose another cello concerto in future where these faults will be eliminated. I will not touch this composition - it will be always revealed as a document of my creative thinking back in the beginning of 2000. 1 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Why this work has no comments? I understand that larger works are less attractive at first sight. But this is a great opportunity to listen to an original concerto and to see it played by an orchestra. There is no sense in saying anything about the quality, which is evident. So, I can only say taht I love it, the cellist is superb, and it's true there is a good balance in general, with modern spots and ways to play the instrument. Quote
Austenite Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Of course I have very little to add, since the high standard of this piece is obvious. I don't feel quite intimidated by larger pieces, having written quite a few myself - but works like this one leave me at a loss on what to point out for praise or improvement. Granted, most composers evolve stylistically with time (I'm not sure if that's my own case, though), but I can see a lot of traits that have carried on into your more recent pieces. Great job! Quote
Ken320 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I posted a comment on this about two weeks ago, which was very complimentary to the music and especially the cellist. Then I see it listed again as "few critiques" and without any comments at all. ???? Quote
