Casper Belier Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 I want to start a Discussion on the relationship between colour and tone, what was there first the colour or the tone? or who is the dominant brother? does one exist without the other, (blind people still ''see'' colour in dreams, visualizations, in Music) Maybe the topic is too vague and broad to be discussed properly so let's start with this: when radiation(light) radiates it produces soundwaves, so sound can't go without light but sound can go without light making it superior because it has two origins. (i know this is not a physics forum, but we live in a world of physics so i mean... everything relates to eachother(string theory)) Quote
Casper Belier Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 first thing you should know is that colour is what the self-awareness(mind) of a person sees, in reality they are just wavelengths. reaching a point on the same time that will cluster to your brain, that colour cluster will then be ''translated'' to your mind's eye, but without light we can still see the coulours, so why say colour is made outside and not inside? this must be the case with sound aswell, but if you think that white and black wouldn't be colours, maybe rhytms's and loudness are what the white and blacks of sound would be. how about drawing in the coulours of a coulouring plate(good tranlsation?) and filling the pitches to an defined score with rhytm and loudness. would it be the same in certain aspects? i mean we all would see the same, but what about the colour blind, they would see it in a different way, but most of the time they still understand the picture, with less understanding of colour. then the not-so colour blind, what would something which can see all the lights, or all radiations see? think about the possibilities a robot(or higher-being) has who has been plugged to camera's for all the radiation, would it be possible for it to make sense of it still? would it draw differently with the things he has in front of him? just touching the paper with warm hands, would draw an temporary ''hot'' colour from the heat radiation sensor. Now let's think about the All hearing ear hearing frequenties from 0-hZ till infinity-hZ he hears the sound of the earth moving around the sun, the sound of the atoms, man can also hear it, just scale down the octave a couple of thousand times(by dividing by 2) you would say. but will it still be the real sound of an atom? just imagine hearing an middle C of the keyboard, now double the pitch, high C! goodjob, nowkeep doing this till you dont know what you hear but you can understand where it lies(what would it be to hear a sound sinussing at the speed of atoms. or the other way around, making the sound go lower. now you can get a little bit of an idea what the ranges are and that you ectually have no idea how it sounds, i mean taking the c down a couple of times, you will hear continuous waves at some points, taking seconds to sinus. and after some more, you would just hear a stale sound which should not be moving, not for our true duration. for the next thing i want to talk about i want to use this thought experiment: '' Mary is a brilliant scientist who is, for whatever reason, forced to investigate the world from a black and white room via a black and white television monitor. She specializes in the neurophysiology of vision and acquires, let us suppose, all the physical information there is to obtain about what goes on when we see ripe tomatoes, or the sky, and use terms like ‘red’, ‘blue’, and so on. She discovers, for example, just which wavelength combinations from the sky stimulate the retina, and exactly how this produces via the central nervous system the contraction of the vocal cords and expulsion of air from the lungs that results in the uttering of the sentence ‘The sky is blue’. '' this is the knowledge argument, does she know what the people on earth are experiencing through vision or not? if she would go out in the world out of her room, would she experience the world as she thought it to be as in her room, or would it be fundamentally richer, more understandable, more beauthiful? please, if you know some of my questions, or share your opinion on some of these matters, please do! i crave to know more about the universe of our music!
