Monarcheon Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 It sounds fine for the most part, it's just engraving issues... more specifically beaming issues. One beat (or 3 eighth notes in this case) should be beamed across, even with rests in it. I don't know if it's a limitation of your program, but there you go. I don't know if you subscribe to this, but I was taught that in 6/8, your rests should always be in terms of the eighth note. So instead of a quarter rest, you should have 2 eighth rests, but that could just be me. In 15, you should probably have those 2 16th rests in the soprano be one 8th rest. On a side note, you're going to want to work out bowings for this, especially for the soprano/violin at the beginning. Cheers. Quote
Cappielly Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Thanks Monarcheon for the comment and suggestions! Quote
Luis Hernández Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Hi I like it. I think it would be much better if you work a little on the dynamics, otherwise is can be monotonous, that is to say, strings have much more to say when you work expression. I know it's not easy, but worth it. The second part is wonderful. That issue with beaming... I don't know which is the software you are using (it looks like Sibelius). It is the same in Finale: when you use 6/8 or 9/8 you have to tell the program how you want the beaming. Quote
Cappielly Posted July 19, 2016 Author Posted July 19, 2016 Thanks Luis. And I agree that I should have given more consideration to the dynamics. Quote
Ken320 Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 This has a nice charm to it. It reminds me of Michael Nyman's score to the film, Drowning By Numbers, which everyone must see. Regarding the beaming, it would be clearer if you changed the 16th notes to staccato 8th's. At tempo they are the equivalent. Slur markings from long to short would also be helpful. Quote
