Nick Vuci Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone! Please check out this trio I wrote for me and my two friends to play. So far only the first movement is completely rendered (ie transcribed from sheetmusic to mp3), but I'll probably have the other two movements done within a week (work permitting). I should mention that the development section is abridged because my friends aren't the most professional of musicians and I wanted to have something they would actually want to play. This synthesized recording was made on LMMS from the original sheet music. The keyboard part plays a plucked string sound sample and is tuned to the 32-note harmonic series scale. Enjoy! Monarcheon Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 0:10 awkward counterpoint between half steps. 1:25-1:32 I think you mess around with microtones too much here. 1:50 A-flat vs. A natural 2:25 transition with a rit was awkward 3:09 crossed voices Careful with microtones. When everything else is locked in, these can sound very wrong, unless there's transpositional equivalence, which this piece does not have... Quote
Nick Vuci Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the feedback, Monarcheon! I'll admit that this was more or an experiment on using the motion of traditionally strong harmonies to carry otherwise dissonant microtonal textures along. Using a 32-tone scale with 1 note in exact equivelancy with the standard 12-tet system is definitely not intended to create something traditionally "tonal," but I will take your notes into consideration for future revisions to this piece. Luis Hernández Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 At last I found the first part! It's funny, I don't know anything about microtonalism. So only can say I like it or not. And I do, and I say it's funny because I enjoy the parts Monarcheon mentions for any reasons ¿? 1:29_1:30.. Well, I like a lot those swellings I also think the combination of instruments works fine.
