Guest Invisionary Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Over the past few weeks I have had a problem with the shoutbox. When I hit refresh it goes back a few minutes prior to the most recent post and stays there, even when I post a message it stays stuck in the past. ? :) Quote
Mike Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Are you using Opera, Jeremy? It sometimes caches things superfluously, which might cause the shouts to become "stuck in the past" as you put it, though I thought I fixed the whole Opera caching issue months ago when spc1st raised it separately. Quote

Opera? I don't know what that is. My browser is IE 6.0. Quote

Mike Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Opera? I don't know what that is. My browser is IE 6.0. IE 6 should behave fine with the shoutbox.I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions. Next time it happens, let me know, including some further details if possible (e.g. what you were doing at the time, which shouts got "stuck"). Quote
Guest Anders Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 You poor soul. Use Firefox and be enlightened. Opera pwnz Firefox. That migth be your solution, Jeremy. Just download a new browser. IE is just about the worst there is. Quote
Mike Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 IE is just about the worst there is. Well, there is Internet Explorer for Mac. Quote
Guest Invisionary Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I suppose its not really that big of a deal. Every few refreshes it takes the posts back about 5 minutes, but if I post something new or just send a few dots "..." it refreshes it rightly. Quote
Mike Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I added no-cache headers for the global shouts display. That should stop browsers caching the shouts. Tell me if you experience any more problems. Quote
