Anthony Johnson Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 (edited) Figure instead of posting several topics of my older pieces of works figure I'll choose a handful and have them here in one swoop. Really I wish to pay homage to you guys for reviewing my music, giving helpful advice and stuff. So I feel comfortable to share some of my most pivotal and bizarre moments with you. I hope you guys enjoy. A Master's Miracle - Named after my old user name from the RPG Revolution forums, Spirit Master X. Tried to make an online presence with this at the time which was oddly popular. 2010 A Night Sky - Made this in my college days 2010. Hanging With SMX - Just me talking about The Nightmare Before Christmas. I mention that here a lot because it was the film that got me interested in orchestration in the first. This was in 2011. Into the Skies - A broad attempt at something different. 2010 Nanashi 1 & 2 - This was a game project hosted on RPG Revolution that I was asked to create music for. I didn't know what the heck I was doing I just did it. 2013 Nocturnal Dreams - Lord of the Rings inspired this (the high points) as you can tell I tried to mimic the same melody to the original film. 2013 My Guitar Riffs - Just me foolin around on guitar during a live recording. I was just doing stuff. 2015 Opening Night By SMX - This was my very second attempt at orchestrating. Literally my second piece. 2009 Lost in Dark Space - I tried to create a space feeling...not my best...2015 Something Simple - Just as the title suggest. 2011 The Poisonous Acrobat - Another piece for a game project on RPG Revolution that wasn't finished. 2012 The Pumpkin King (SMX Version) - My love for the Nightmare Before Christmas reigns again as I tried to copy Danny Elfman's theme for the film. 2014 Under Fire - My first vocal attempt at screamo for metal type of songs. I was heavily influenced by Burt, the lead singer from The Used. Yeah I was emo lol. I was going through a tough break up...so...Not only was I upset at my ex at the time but I was just angry at everything: ignorance, the world, people, our society, not knowing how to read music. 2008 Say You'll Never - My second attempt at Nu Metal vocals with a Rage Against the Machine style. 2008 I think it is safe to say I've been through many phases during my life which affected the type of music I do. Everywhere from hip-hop, orchestral, and heavy metal. Fast forward a hundred years later I'm here...thankfully making through the turbulence. Monarcheon Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 When the piece seems to be simpler, you seem to be able to keep an atmosphere going a lot more. I'm not going to comment on specifics since I don't have the time for that, but I think you have a sense of how to send things on their way when you establish a good base. Some of these have a shaky start, and when that happens the end result seems to be a lot more unstable; like building a house with a poor foundation. I can tell you've been developing your sense of an emotional arc as you put up more stuff, but it only seemed to get started here. Quote
