Mauro Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 (edited) This piece was inspired by a simple piece of cake and the melancholic aftermath of its departure. The flavor of the cake is irrelevant. Monarcheon Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Okay, it's short; fair enough, I understand that. I could tell there was a desire to really want to build on the initial idea but it really didn't come out as well as I would have hoped. It's kind of a tried-and-true start, normal... I - V - iv - VI... I guess I just wanted more time to hear it be described to me, branching off from the normal chord progression we've heard a lot and showing me why I should be engrossed... if that makes sense. Quote
Mauro Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 That's the intended experience of the piece though. A fleeting moment that you would like to last longer. When the cake is gone, the dream is over, you don't get anymore opportunities to engross yourself in it's flavors or textures, which is the same experience I wished to convey in this piece. It's a simple piece, inspired by a simple piece of take. Quote

A piece being programmatically viable doesn't necessarily mean it's exempt from typical theory outlooks. Not trying to demean what you're saying at all, I absolutely get it, and respect it. This is just what people will do; criticize regardless of intention. Quote
