I'mnothere Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Hi This is a short piano piece that I wrote a few months ago. MP3 file coming as soon as I can find a spare CD to convert the wav file into an MP3! Sorry about my old technology. PDF Fairy Lights - Teddy Bears' Minuet Quote
Monarcheon Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 ...what? Why do you need a CD to convert the file into an mp3. There are plenty of sites online and applications you can get that will do it for you. Anyway, your piece: Voice leading rules, the leading tone of the piece always resolves step-wise up a half step. The left hand in measures 8-9 sound awkward because of it. m. 16, no need to put the 8va there... pianists can read ledger lines. Voice leading rules, m. 17; no root. I feel like the trio could have been a little more fleshed out chord wise? i and V are cool and all but mixing it up could be fun. From what I can tell it sounds cute, but a few things to work out to make it sounds smooth. Cheers! Quote
I'mnothere Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Thanks for the advice! The octave sign was actually just to fit it on one page to save paper when I printed it out. As to the MP3 file, it's not actually my computer so I wanted to be careful. I'll remember the voice leading rules, they seem to be the main problem! It's meant to be an easy piece for a relative who's missing a finger but I could definitely add some other chords in there. Quote
I'mnothere Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Here is the MP3, computer undamaged: MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Fairy_Lights > next Quote
fishyfry Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 I like it. It's a really nice and simple piece and it has a sort of childlike feel to me (I mean that as a compliment). It seems like the sort of thing that would work really well as a piece for a young piano student. A little fleshing out would do it some good, but it's great work on your part! Quote
