Monarcheon Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 For the first one especially, sometimes I can't tell the mood. Some clashing tones (A# and B for example) don't initially fit I suppose. The ending was also a bit abrupt (and on the 6th?). On the whole though, it was a pleasant movement. I think the second is one of my favorite things you've ever written. Great playing with phrase lengths and a lot of really cool progressions, all within the realm of beauty. In measure 50, I'm wondering why the Bmi7 chord has an F natural in it? Also was a little confused by m. 65's suspension. But it was really quite lovely writing. Quote

Regarding the G7sus - C... I know the logical progression is G7sus - G7 - C... But it doesn't have to be so (always). Here G7sus4 is subdominant, that's all. To anticipate the C in the melody the G7 would clash. Quote
Casper Belier Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 thanks for the tunes! first one is a bit odd like the monarch said.but interesting, i was thinking, why not play the melodie on the guitar, but eventually you made her sing it.and man, for the second one, very nice melody and chords, that 5 over 3 was amazing, i will think of this when working in 3/4 next time. markstyles Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I love the 2nd piece. very beautiful.. I'm trying to pinpoint the emotions I feel when I hear it.. There's a dignity about it.. also something uplifting with a tiny tad of 'sadnesss'.. You've quite a grasp on arranging, evoking feelings.. Your pieces are short, almost fragile.. but also a durabilty to them.. They are tougher than they sound.. Like a rock solid female athlete who is wearing a frilly fragile dress. The song is slightly deceiving in a good way. (that's not a good way of putting it).. It states something, but there is also an undertow of another message in there too.. Intriguing is what I would say.. Love it.. Quote
