It's thematic and does its job well in that regard but there are other keys than G minor. This felt a little bit too safe staying in the tonic key. I know you said the emphasis is on rhythm, but that doesn't mean harmony can't be equally important. Also, that ending is extremely pointless to me. It didn't start like that, so why end like that? It's not like Mahler. Well done. Quote
