Monarcheon Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I don't think you'll ever see anything like this again from me, really. I didn't do much of the actual sound design of the piece, but I was in charge of coming up with a lot of the ideas and progress/gestures for it. Check out the poster's album if you like this piece, he did a really good job. 1 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I like this concept of things. I have no idea of how to do things like this (well I can imagine, but I am accostumed to my piano solo). So, when the electronics go so well, I enjoy it a lot. Ther are fantastic sections (2:55 with that slap bass or whatever; 5:00 I love it). Surprisint final part. 1 Quote
Bleum Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Hi, This was a fun piece. The only critique I have is that it started out interesting but then became stylistically and compositionally conventional. Perhaps that was the aim here. The mixing was done quite well. Keep it up :) Warm beats, bleum// Quote
Gustav Johnson Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 Overall, really creative use of sounds, quite cool. :) Since you concentrated mostly on the "architecture" and structure of the piece, I'll speak mostly to that. There are so many good sounds and great riffs/licks/patterns, you have a lot to play with. There are a few times when I'm caught a little off guard by a switch from one section to another, and I can't figure out if it's because of how the melodies/harmonies are constructed or if it's because there's something missing to guide my ear into that new section. In the sections themselves, you do an excellent job of layering everything in a way that brings out the best of each part. Part of me wonders if this is thanks to your practice writing fugues, etc. Perhaps thinking more into how each section is related to the preceding and following sections will help to guide you in making this seem even more cohesive--like having a "hook" to carry the listeners through the piece. There's so much to hear and to comprehend, but it's done so well that I don't mind listening a few times. I'll need to take another listen to this after I have some time to digest it further, but I'm really digging this! Gustav Johnson p.s. the intro and the outro are awesome Quote

Yes, occasionally that glue took the form of another build rather than actual composition, but I think the idea was more like a fake out to the actual buildup before the actual drop. Thanks a lot!
