Timothy Michael Weiss Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I started this piece around the time I was taking advanced theory in college. I was trying to compose a tune that sounded "classical", and I wrote the first half quickly. Around the cadenza I was stuck for a few months until I finally found some inspiration in a new friend of mine. The musicians in the recording were great and were able to produce what you hear on a time constraint. Let me know which composer(s) you think I was trying to imitate. I hope you enjoy! Ken320 Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 One of those Bach's. Or was it Schubert dreaming of those Bach's? No. Could it be Lucas Foss? Quote
SebastianViola Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) In general I would recommend providing the score as well when you post music for feedback. This is a nice piece, but it does at times feel a bit bogged down/dragging - perhaps due to the lack of rhythmic variation in certain areas. In regards to your influences, I'm definitely feeling some Beethoven and maybe some Schubert, and during some of the more dissonant moments that come in after 3 minutes in and onward it reminds me of Prokofiev and Bartok.
