Luis Hernández Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Hi, exploring Messiaen's Mode 1. In fact, he used it in very few occasions, although he describe it. It's no other than the whole tone hexatonic scale (Debussy). MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu MODE 1 > next PDF mode 1 - SCORE Quote
Gustav Johnson Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Nice! Definitely note a mode that's easy to read, at least for me. I notice there are a few places where you seem to depart from the original mode into something more diatonic (m. 20-24, 37-38). Was that a mistake or did you do that intentionally? It definitely doesn't feel out of place, and it's a cool effect so I'd love to understand it a little better. Cool work! Gustav Johnson Quote

bkho Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Very nice. I have a hard time getting into Messiaen's music but this definitely does have a Debussy feel to it. Quote
