maestrowick Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 1) get a recording for my ballet. I have the first movement done...now for movements 2,3,and 4!! 2) Write the libretto for my opera and do leitmotifs/sketches. 3) Finish the complete score for my novical. I have most of it done but didn't put the vocal lines done. I'll explain more about a novical and making it real soon Quote
Ken320 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 That sounds like a full plate! My new year's resolution is to drink more water. 8 glasses. It's not as easy as you think. I'm coming along very well on my symphony so far. It's here somewhere, check it out! 1 Quote

Not entirely sure about that. I've been trying to write a cello concerto and compete with it in a concerto competition! I have so many ideas to put in but not the transition skills necessary to pull all of them off . To the chopping block, perhaps. 1 Quote
Plutokat Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Start composing again. Since I started teaching middle school choir, I have had no time to write music. Get my choir to sing music I write for them. Start doing Youtube videos again. (preferably video essays analyzing music) Write and publish more arrangements Send music off to competitions like I usually do. Quote
The_Emperor Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Finally finish recording my jazz album, been on and off for years. Continue practicing the piano and if I have the time maybe compose some new music! Quote
Anthony Johnson Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Not music related BUT...I thought about writing a movie script and pitching it to a film company. Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to direct it myself... Not sure how well that will turn out since I'm basically a nobody with no directing experience haha. My biggest inspiration for doing this is Jordan Peele, famously known in the hit comedy series Key and Peele. Well he wrote the script to the recent film Get Out, pitched it to film producers, and was offered to direct it himself. I'm a little upset at myself really. I have all of these ideas in several genres/categories and I'm getting to learn more about the orchestral world and I can't do anything but settle in this dump called home. Hearing all these stories about people who never went to college and had many breakthroughs man it just kills my head to think that maybe I won't be a part of those breakthroughs. I've been contemplating giving everything up including music and just work a normal crap job. I think it has a lot to do with where I live. I'm basically the only guy here who does orchestral music, write stories, craft role-playing games, make hip-hop music, do character and concept art etc. And everything else such as companies, schools etc. Are so far away from me they're basically inaccessible. The only thing I have really is the internet. And years of uploading my music, art, games, web series to try and reach someone who are willing to fly me out and actually do something on a large scale...is failing miserably. My degree in sound engineering is basically useless at this point. My time here on the boards was not taken for granted, I did some serious grinding and with every piece I do, it's usually driven by wanting to prove to everyone that I can do this. I literally sat and studied for hours...but what is the pay off you know? Just write a piece and upload it? Then what? Quote
SSC Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 My goals for this year: (1) Be the first human being to punch someone in the throat through the internet. (2) Finish my god-damned cello sonata, since I have the actual concert coming up and the scores need to be finished and oh my god noooooo-- (3) Successfully install the new flooring in my apartment. Ravels Radical Rivalry Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 My turn: 1) Get a life 2) Find that life's purpose Well, actually, more realistically 1) Pay off all credit card debt 2) Raise Credit 3) Save money to go back to school for a. degree in pastry b. at least the beginning classes of a composition degree (we will take the entry level classes and see how it goes - I might decide to go all the way with it) 4) Find a career related job in the culinary realm, preferably working as a pastry cook in a restaurant/hotel or at a bakery or a catering location. 5) Then more hobby related goals then the other - Lower bodyfat/Increase strength/Raise new max lifting weights/Participate in an official 5K 6) Learn this damned musical and perform it successfully in the next week (this will be my immediate goal as my first performance date is next Thursday and I have only spent a full day looking at it - not hard, just limited time) Quote
