Luis Hernández Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 This is just an attempt to incorporate my studies on canon to a more modern sound. Parts AB are harmonised in a standard way (concert pitch always). Parts A'B' are in canon: A) the trumpet leads and the trombones are in canon at the sixth one in natural and the other in motu contrario. B) trombones in thirds in canonic style at the sixth and octave. Greetings! MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu jazzy > next PDF jazzy Quote
fishyfry Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Very cool. It's good thinking, using the jazzy style to spice up some relatively simple canonic material. Quote
Monarcheon Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Jazzy style was a great way to bring out the canon, though maybe the melody could have been swung too? My two cents. MIDI brass make you want to tear your hair out, doesn't it? Kick drum part might get a bit annoying to play after a while though, haha. Quote
markstyles Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 This is very interesting.. yes, love the jazz touch. The Jazz, makes it less 'canonistic'.. A great blend of ideas.. unique thinking.. Luis... as always Quote
Adrian Quince Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Very cool! Two comments: 1. I wanted to hear more! You had a nice groove going and I didn't want it to stop when it did. 2. Jazz players don't play C trumpets. The only instruments built today to get the smoky jazz sound are in Bb. Quote
