Emiliano Manna Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 A short Prelude for piano, Presto Misterioso in 5/8. It's vaguely inspired to the radioactive snowfall that opens El Eternauta, the incredible comic book by Oesterheld and Solano Lopez that foreshadows some of Argentina's darkest events. My goal is to create a full set of pieces depicting the turning moments of this masterwork... probably in the future :D Quote
Mark101 Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Hello Emiliano, I'm not generally a fan of atonal / modernist music, but this has something I like. It captures, for me, a frenzied blizzard more than a gentle snowfall, with it's somewhat manic nature and a searching quality that finds it's object in the end. I look forward to hearing the next part of the series. Mark Quote
Gustav Johnson Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Wow, cool! I'm also not very knowledgeable about atonal structure and execution, and don't normally enjoy listening to it. This was engaging from start to finish, especially the carefully placed accents and dynamics. Well done! Can't wait to hear the rest of the "scenes". Gustav Johnson Quote
Emiliano Manna Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 More than atonal, the little piece is in fact tonal (B minor, although not marked in the score for an easier reading) and very chromatic, with occasional bitonal moments when the texture leaves the unisono figure. Thank you for listening! Quote
