When I show potential collabers my songs, they stop replying

This has happened to me at least 10 times now, with different songs too, and it always has me feeling disheartened. :(

I'm a lyricist and songwriter, mostly. I can't sing well. I make very ameteur beats but that's kind of it. I like writing melodies and words.

When I find musicians to collab with, I show them my demos (and I forewarn them that they are very rough-sounding and my voice is bad), then they stop replying.

I don't know what to do at this point. I feel like I should just post all my demos online for everyone to laugh at. (Okay, that's an exaggeration, but, still).

Anyone else ever have this happen?

Keeping looking for collaborators. I'm in the same boat.   What you may have to do is produce the recordings yourself. Buy a mic, ProTools, and get the singers. You are surrounded by some great musicians there in Holland. DO IT BIG! That's what I do.  I've recorded over 40 songs that way!

Some music schools and community arts centers have songwriting classes that are great for this sort of thing.  They are built for people just like you, so you can find more people like yourself and collaborate.  Everyone shares music with the class and works together.  But remember, that means you'll be helping them with THEIR music too.  Everyone in the class will be a songwriter.  Once you meet some people, you can always keep working together outside of class.  But to be helpful to the other songwriters in the class, you need to have a skill you can bring to their music:  an instrument you play, or be able to sing, or be good at recording.

If you feel like your demos aren't very good, work to make your demos better.  Take singing lessons so you can sing better.  Piano lessons so you can play the keyboard part well.  Learn to play the bass or drums.  Whatever you need for the type of music that interests you.  Most composers can play several instruments well, because when they are getting started, they have to play their own music, or no one else will.  If you can't play it well yourself, it's very hard to interest others in investing the time to work with you.  Your demos are competing with lots of other demos by people who write music, but also already play well or sing well.

There is a very easy solution to the problem, but you will need patience...  Time to find some instrument lessons!
