Monarcheon Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Really well done! I liked this a lot. Measures 17, 21, and 26 had really awkward clashing tones that took me out of a brilliant soundscape you had. I feel like the range of the piece could have been expanded little as well; having the piece go places as well as the harmonic structure. Once again, great work! 1 Quote
fishyfry Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 @Monarcheon I'm glad you liked it! think you've pointed out two things that particularly challenge my writing, handling dissonance in counterpoint and using the range of the piano. Thanks as always for the constructive comments. Quote
Ken320 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Very nice, fishfry. I felt like I was looking into a kaleidoscope with all of the ever changing harmonies. A tongue-in-cheek fugue maybe. Stravinsky's Piano Sonata? I agree with M that you might have ventured further out harmonically. But I would add that the lead voice could have used some 16th notes here and there to add highlights to the dance and make it less predictable. Quote
