pateceramics Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Probably not all marked perfectly, but close enough! I figured if I didn't go ahead and get this done soon, everyone would have forgotten the Women's March, and I'd need to write a new one to honor a different set of marchers. Hmm... I hear the March for Science is coming... Shout out to Ken for helping me figure out my accidentals, in all their multitudes! PDF Furtak-Pussy Cat March Quote
Monarcheon Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 What an interesting blend of colors and textures! Some of your bowings are a bit awkward at this tempo and the time signature changes often left me scratching my head, but it was generally pretty nice. There's a few crossed voices things but they seem intentional. Register shift at 77 is a bit strange. Ever think of writing this in swing? It's almost to that territory. Lovely. Quote
pateceramics Posted February 1, 2017 Author Posted February 1, 2017 The register shift at 77 is just after the blaring car horns and sounds of running feet in the piano part when the march is interrupted, with the cats scattering. At 77, they regroup and keep marching. (: It's supposed to sneak up on you and be jarring. Yeah, for the bowings, I spent a lot of time air-bowing in the living room, trying to decide what I wanted. I ended up marking them the way I did mainly for the purpose of accenting beats. I didn't want the violin part to end up too legato by slurring everything. I agree, it does make for some awkward bits, but ultimately I decided the part wasn't too difficult in other ways, as solo material goes, so hopefully I can get away with it. Hmmm... swing... (: Thanks for your input! Quote
