RefinedRedneck Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 First post here so here goes nothing. This work is part of an ongoing project I have entitled "The Cosmos Suite". The project is meant to capture specific aspects of space, primarily seeking to answer the question "What does space sound like?" In this instance, the work seeks to capture the serene beauty as one drifts amongst the star throughout our universe and witnesses the natural beauty of it. The strings provide the backdrop of space and the stars while the horn and trumpet call to each from across the void. The work is scored for solo horn, solo Tpt, and chamber strings. Monarcheon Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 First of all, your transpositions for the instruments are not correct. make sure they match. Parallel/similar motion is good for keeping an atmospheric change consistent but in a piece like this, contrary motion especially to low strings would be an absolute delight. And that's the main thing, wanted there to be a high point and there really never was one; contrary motion could solve that for you. It's nice how you keep your theme pretty consistent throughout. make sure to develop it instead of just restating it sometimes, yeah? Cheers! Quote
