Gustav Johnson Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 (edited) Hi All! I attempted a minimalist work. I've always been intrigued with this genre, and really get into the "trance"-like grooves that the rhythms create. Like many things, it's a simple concept but to do it well is difficult. The body percussion in the middle of the piece is "played" by percussion instrument sounds in this demo. Let me know what you think! Kimoworld Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 I really like it. I really like Philip glass´s style. Not neccesarily all of his music. But his very simple arpegio-style I like. I think you are right. Minimalism is difficult to do well. You have to be so precise. I think you have done a good job with this one. Quote
Luis Hernández Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 I like it! I don't think either that minimalism is easy to write (and perform). In some places there is, in my opinion, a mixture of minimalism and impressionism (the part with extended chords). There are some techniques in classical minimalism that can be used, additionally: sustraction, addition. Of course you don0't have to use them always. But I think the, in the rhythm section, a bit of phasing would have been nice. Good word! Quote
SebastianViola Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I really enjoyed this work - I am fascinated by minimalism and the atmospheric sense music like this evokes, though pretty mediocre at writing it myself. Well done! Quote
