Monarcheon Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 I wrote the music for this student film about two years ago now. Not exactly minimalism, but I was required to adhere to very minimalistic composition guidelines. 1 Quote
Anthony Johnson Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 I must say that minimalism is well suited for scenes like these, yes? Ofcourse I'm not good at giving composition tips but I am well at giving my opinion based on how the music made me feel so I'll start there. The music blended well with the scenes and it really set the mood for what the characters were going through. Not sure if you had any part with the film directly other than the music but the acting was well done as well as the camera work. The music started and stopped at the right times as I would expect from a good film. I enjoyed it Quote
Luis Hernández Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I also enjoyed it. The music is very nice (the film too). I like the ecstatic mood in "Pained". The waltz is the first part sounds a bit odd to me (for the scene, not the music itself). Quote
Ken320 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I only thought of one thing. Which would be to open with the waltz, which is a nice waltz ( a little quieter though). Then when the camera pulls back to show the Brother From Hell, suddenly the waltz is given a new depth that might carry it better throughout the film. My back seat driving, of course. Quote
Maarten Bauer Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 No words for it. The music perfectly fits the film. Bravo. Quote

I didn't really. I had to rewrite the music a lot because the director changed his mind. Such is the nature of film music. Glad you liked it! I did my best :') On 3/3/2017 at 8:24 PM, Ken320 said: I only thought of one thing. I initially wanted it to graduate to a half-step interval, but he wanted it to be as tonal as possible. On 3/4/2017 at 10:43 AM, Maarten Bauer said: No words for it.
