Op. 0 No. - 2: "Piano Episode - Inside A Devastated Mind"

Hi. I think it's a great and beautiful piece. I love when someone mixes several composition tools. That's for me the way to write music. Surely some people would tell you there is enough material here to make a longer piece or a sonata or whatever. However, I think a piece is what the composers wants.

Great technic, but I think the piece itself lacks from emotion and melodic lines. Its just arpeggios and random (?) harmonic progressions.

But still very nice work, I think its missing somthing to be a enormous work!

I like it, but I don't connect with it. It sounds like it'd be a great way to show off your skills to a crowd or some friends, but there's no main idea to latch on to and remember. The melodic content that exists in there is very under-used and undeveloped. If the listener can't ascribe meaning to some easily recognizable melodic or harmonic motif, they can't really feel anything for your composition. That makes the name misleading, since there's no tension or drama to justify such an angsty title. I do hope I'm not being too rough with you. I did enjoy it, but in the same way I'd enjoy fireworks and that's okay. Just think of a better title to reflect the razzle-dazzle of the actual music.

Thanks for your honest criticism! Frankly, it's interesting to see in how much different the piece is appreciated by different people. Reasonably, as the nature of the piece is quite provoking - not to say it's meant to be anything "new" or "original".

As for the title; I would (respectfully) disagree, as the composition is still a reflection of my inner thoughts, so could be described as an expressionistic improvisation - rather than a classical etude. Actually I wrote a lot of other piano works before, but just wanted to try out something more technically demanding.

Nonetheless it still is just a little, experimental composition, spiced up with a pinch of Liszt-/Rachmaninoff-esque showmanship.
