bkatona Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 (edited) Here is a fun track from the documentary film, "Biserici de lemn din România" or "Wooden Churches of Romania." A beautiful film that showcases these ancient wooden churches that are still standing and in use. The director wanted an extremely avant garde approach to the score, to contrast with the images in the film. Hope you enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/emlaproductions/8dio-2015-stand-out-contest-submission-biserici-de-lemn-din-romania-by-brian-katona To see some of the imagery you can visit: Edited March 6, 2017 by bkatona Quote
Gustav Johnson Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Cool! Eerie, spiritual, really fits the nature of the images while contrasting the subject matter of the images. Or perhaps I have that backwards... Either way, it simultaneously matches and contrasts what I'd hope to hear. You might try some leveling and effects with the percussive sounds to create different levels of sounds, some in the foreground, some in the midground, some in the background. That's my only constructive criticism - some of the sounds detract from others and are conflicting rather than cooperating. Nice work, keep it up! Gustav Johnson Quote
Monarcheon Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I like Mr. Johnson's comments about the percussion sounds. I personally thought the sounds/transitions at 1:04 was really strange and kind of unfitting, but directors want what they want, I certainly know that. Good job! Quote
