Jared Steven Destro Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Here are a couple of my recent choral works. The audio is relatively quiet, but I hope you guys like it! Monarcheon Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Luce: Borrowed vii chords are a bit strange, at least when coming from F. ending m. 39 with a bass voice that jumps up takes away from the moment a little bit. m. 46 modulates a little strangely. It's also a little bit too slow moving for my tastes? The growth and falls don't particularly strike me form creating. There are definitely some cool chord choices though! I just thought some of them were a bit forced. Venite: Interesting idea to have a similar opening. I like it! This would work well when both pieces are performed together. The problem with that is, it sounds way too similar to the other one, even in some tonality. Otherwise, you're just left with two pieces that open the same... not as cool, yeah? This one flows a lot better in terms of harmonic motion, even with the surprise chords. I prefer this one, with the exception of maybe around mm. 35-37-39. That was really weird, but justifiable in its own right. Interesting stuff. Quote
Ken320 Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I like this a lot. I disagree with M about the pace. It's perfect. Quote

Since the pieces were written around the same time, I could see some harmonic carry-over, as it were, and I think that's okay, since they are related. I have been experimenting with my choral writing recently, so the feedback helps. Quote

aMusicComposer Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 I think that the speed is very good. However, I don't know if it would work if you had a little faster tempo at the first 7/8 change . Quote
