Commercial #1

So some of you may have seen that @chopin released a couple commercials for Music Jotter a little while back, which can be heard here if you haven't:

I gladly did one of them, but what you hear from mine is actually my second attempt. I wrote this first commercial and it was a little bit too heavy and dramatic for his liking  I still think it works as somewhat of a standalone piece, albeit melodramatic. Hope you enjoy!

I've been meaning to write a review of the application, but I'm having some difficulty understanding some aspects of it.  I've been a Finale user too long, I suppose.  

When you go from 12/8 to 4/4 you HAVE to notate if it's dotted quarter = quarter note or eighth note = eighth note.  Never assume that.

Other than that, great piece for the commerical

Well, it's 13/8, not 12, so the division of the eighth note implies beat retention.

Ah, yes, the timpani... I know Chopin wanted that. I think it's overkill and the other piece you did was more appropriate. This one has some good string parts to recommend it, and some staccato lines in the cello and bass would be a better choice for an ostinato. As it is the timps sound rather arbitrary, wouldn't you agree? What if the director wanted more cowbell? What would you do then?
