vo1dwalk3r Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 The set is titled Andromeda: Four Night Sketches. It consists of the following: Mirach: score, score-video Mu Andromedae: score, score-video Nu Andromedae: score, score-video M31: score, score-video Here's a playlist of all the videos. The titles are sometimes inconsistent on my youtube channel because I changed them around a while ago. I also apologize for the poor quality of the videos, I'm not a great pianist and don't currently have the means to make high quality recordings. That might change soon though! This is the first "structured program" that I've completed and I'm proud of it. As you can tell from my videos my style has changed dramatically since last year but I really want to keep pushing it further. However I'm never quite satisfied with my skills and always looking to improve, and that's why I want to hear from you guys! Any feedback or advice you might have would be much appreciated. Thanks for listening! Quote

Mark101 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 (edited) Hi vo1dwalk3r (complicated name lol), I have to say that I didn't find these pieces atonal at all, to my ears they are completely tonal. They have some unusual harmonies and meandering melodies, interesting chord progressions, all of which give a wonderful sense of space and reflectivity. They also gave me a strong image of a man sat in a deserted cocktail bar after hours, cigarette burning in an ash tray, half glass of whisky perched on top of the piano, just letting his fingers portray his emotions and most private thoughts. Really nice work, I liked them all. As a suite they sit together really well, although in the spirit of constructive critique, I would say that even though they all have different themes and different treatments, they do all have a very similar mood. I don't think this is a bod thing, only that I would have liked to hear a slight change in mood from one to the next. I'm not suggesting that you change any of them, they're great as they are, but perhaps if this is to be considered a suite, and as they're all quite short, a couple of pieces in a different mood, interspersed between the rest, would go a long way to show some diversity, but that's just a personal observation. Luis Hernández Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I also like them all at all. I think they stay in tonality, but it doesn't really matters. You use here many other techniques that make it sound contemporary. And what is more important (to me) is that those techniques finely blend together. Quote
