Vadrif D. Zobrist Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Heaviest composition as of yet, it describes a story if your imagination is wild enough to get on track with the soundtrack. It takes you through the mindset of someone who's got nothing to lose, who's very desperate and reckless, raging in anger. Then he recollects himself, in mixed feelings of rage and agony, desperation and hatred. Then the rage and recklessness comes back, this time more intense, till the last breath (you decide what his recklessness led to..... maybe I can do a part two?) I hope you enjoy it, all my music are rather story-driven, but this composition is much more connected and generally following one theme instead of multiple ones regarding the musical atmosphere. Starting from the 2nd minute, please give me your opinion(s), as I've followed a different approach when making it than I generally do, I'm sure it's noticeable. Quote
Monarcheon Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Something about the 2 vs. 3 didn't seem totally right to me for some reason. Almost like it was too obvious, maybe play with some levels. It got better as it went along. The reverse Jaws theme (lol) probably could have left that area a little more. Seemed too repetitive. The fast 3/4 section seemed kind of weirdly short to me... like a small addition that didn't seem to add a whole lot. Same with the fast 4/4 section after that. I know what it signifies but each new section should feel more intense and it didn't to me. Basically what I'm saying is that this piece seemed very bridled. With a lot of the tones being kind of in the bass range with a theme that doesn't really develop itself (not to mention a somewhat static dynamic range) it could have been a LOT more angry. What you have is good, but I never got *there*, do you know what I mean. I wanted to listen to this thinking I would be a destroyer of worlds haha, but I didn't quite get there. 1 Quote

Ah well, sorry for disappointing you. I can say comparing to my other soundtracks this was heavy, but it might not be heavy enough to deliver the imagination behind it. But, good thing is it's not at it's maximum efficiency yet delivering some of what it was supposed to. Not a total failure, I guess? Thank you for your opinion, so much appreciated. Quote

Not a failure in the slightest. I have no issues with the energy within, just the progression thereof. i have no doubts you're capable of doing that either! 1 Quote
markstyles Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Wow the intensity is great.. The 1st loud intense section, dropping down to a small sound section, was extremely striking the first t time, not so much the second and more times.. Got too predictable?.., The intensity is really striking, The 2nd and 3rd drop downs, you might consider, the music just going way off into left field,, (like you are crazy.. I like the approach of this very much.. You are really onto something here. I understanding you're bringing the heartbeat drum back in,, Maybe on one of the later dropdowns, you just have a second, of a really 'f#$%$#d up electric shock sound, then the heart beat comes back.. 1 Quote

Glad you found it intense, that means it served its purpose. Yeah on the second time you hear the heartbeat (disregarding intro's heartbeat), the notes are transposed by a -1 octave to match the segment before it, while still resembling the segment before that one. Didn't turn out very fine, but I mean you already heard it once, your mind plays tricks and makes it sound better the second time around.. or so I hope. Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate you helping me out. Quote
