Monarcheon Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Because what's a time signature, actually? Quote
Monarcheon Posted June 25, 2017 Author Posted June 25, 2017 @Luis Hernández If you haven't seen this woman's music, I'd definitely check more than this out. Quote
Luis Hernández Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Wow, thanks @Monarcheon. It's really exciting. I don't know what happens inside my brain but I like this things. Using the instruments in these new ways is inspiring. I'll look for more stuff from her. I see she wrote a string quartet with quarter tones... The question of time signature has an explanation. This kind of music is, many times, better seen without any meter. But when there are several players, it's necessary to notate some time signature, even these odd ones. Otherwise, synchronization is almost impossible. I made that mistake once in an exercise for three instruments. It was all very contemporary and with odd rhythms..., but I didn't write any key signatures... I had to correct that to be understandable by players.... Quote
