dbzfreak2 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) The story begins with me having the end of this piece swirling around in my head for the last two months so my mission was to finally build a piece around that ending and I'm convinced I did what I needed to do. Now there really isn't much of a story behind this piece but my brain seems to like the idea of a circus for some reason, I haven't figured out why that is. But I will be happy to take any thoughts or advice on what is done. I'm convinced this is not the final version of this piece so I expect to be editing this for a while. (It starts out kind of loud, just warning you) Uploaded the updated score. Enjoy! Luis Hernández Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I like it, good work. But the beginning in ff was a bit shocking. Quote
Monarcheon Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Really, Luis? I quite like the beginning. Something that threw me a little bit was the juxtaposition of the straight and dotted eighth rhythms. It could have used a little more support from the bass to make it seem a little more natural? Maybe I'm just looking into it too hard. It just stylistically sounds a little weird. The more exposed or isolated parts lacked a lot of direction for me, and sometimes you come out of them as though you don't really know how to leave it for some reason, though I think you're more than capable of doing so. The transformations of the melody were really nice throughout, though the third chord you use in your motivic restatements sometimes seem off to me. Good job, and very fun to listen to! Quote
dbzfreak2 Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 I've been stewing on what you two said about questionable dissonances and I must either not be hearing them or I did it on purpose...I've been slowly editing and adding to it too so I'll have another score and recording to add I think Quote
