punintentional Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Hi everyone. I just thought I'd share a piece that I was working on this summer. (In case you're wondering, the piece doesn't have anything to do with the film The Omen) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bapp6RO9eiU 1 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 I like it .... I think it has "emotional motion", I don't know how to say it. Surely you will be told that some instruments, in some parts, have been taken to high-high register. It's not uncommon in contemporary music looking for new sonorities nd colors (Stravinsky opened the gate with the bassoon solo in the Rite of Spring). Quote
Maarten Bauer Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Wonderful! You are a master at creating tone colours by using the ultimate possibilities of all instruments. The music is nice too! It is dreamy, restful, but at the same time I feel like there is some sadness. Furthermore, the arpeggios in the piano and the melodies in the winds are beautiful. Finally, I have to say that the score is very easy to read. Everything is clear for the performers, which is not always the case... Very well done! Quote

It's high but I'm pretty sure it's all playable. It's all quite comfortably within the ranges given in Adler's Study of Orchestration. The only note that could perhaps be a problem is the clarinet's final high e being played pianissimo. Idk, I'm still learning :D Quote
