Hello everyone! This is my first take on Tango music. I wrote this one for an upcoming movie which is set in the 2nd world war timeline. The director wanted a tango so this is what I did. I wrote it for a 47 piece orchestra and althought this is a demo, it will be played live on a film music festival in Bratislava, Slovakia in october.

Please let me know how you guys like it! :)

Lovely!

The melodies are very suited for a tango: they sing as it were and they have a nice dramatic touch.
The solo violin part is wonderful.
2.09. This chord sounds pretty weird to me and in my opinion it does not improve the beauty of the melodies.
I understand that you want a modulation, but I would compose a smoother transition.

2.28. The rhythm in the accompaniment is very nice.
2.58. In contrast with 2.09, this modulation sounds smooth and logical.

Have fun at the concert!

Thank you for the detailed review! I'll think about the 2:09 part...You are right, I was going for a modulation there and this one seemed fine to me. It's nice to hear a different opinion though :-) Thank you for the compliments too!

Good job overall. I like how you vary the theme each time you repeat. A few things that might be looked at:

0:21, 1:43, 1:58, 3:16, 3:35: I felt that the F# in the melody should resolve to an E, but that's just my personal take.

0:36: I felt the A in one of the harmonies should resolve to a G before the chord change. Again, this is only a personal take.

0:44: awkward 9th intervals

1:23: awkward transition

I agree with Maarten Bauer's coments.

3:59: I think the F-natural is probably supposed to be an F#

The ending felt incomplete and could contain more motion.

Thanks for your very detailed review, I appreciate it! I see what you mean by the F# in the melody, but that was just intentional, I wanted the melody to be that way. It's nice to see a different view on the parts you pointed out, thanks!
