Anthony Johnson Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Hi, it's been a while since I posted so I thought I'd show something off while I work on a large orchestral piece I'm taking my time on. The drums, rhythm guitar, and bass, was from a free backing track I've found on Youtube; the lead guitar is what I've done (the part with the terrible quality haha) The next one is where I am working on my guitar solos. I believe I hit one wrong note outside of the key of D Major (very noticeable) And I know there are a lot of random notes, I was freestyling...didn't necessarily write it down like I did the first one. MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Guitar Again Working on solos > next Quote
Gustav Johnson Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Nice to see you post again :) How did you record your guitar? I like your ideas, very good for improvised. Lots of good things, sometimes too much actually - I lost a sense of where you were going several times. Find one main point of climax and a few smaller points, then work everything else to serve those points. Hope all is well, Gustav Johnson Quote

Hope all is well, Gustav Johnson I recorded in the most unprofessional way possible by placing the mic in front of the amp...with zero guitar editing software which I am looking to change soon. Quote
Gustav Johnson Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) Hey that's fine! I challenged myself to do some recording with nothing but my computer's built in microphone to force myself to improve my fundamentals. Might be worth a shot? Whatever you use, make the best use of your tools :) Edited September 18, 2017 by Gustav Johnson Quote
markstyles Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 You cover a lot of good ground in the improvisation.. very nice.. Lately when I put a solo on something.. I auto record/mute/create new track/loop Do a handful of passes, sometimes the whole length of song, even if using in a particular section.. I've never really quite got where one's brain goes (or at least mine) when soloing.. Quote
