Liam Doyle Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 (edited) A short piece for String Quartet, please somebody who plays string instruments tell me if this is playable and where I can improve as its fairly repetitive and I feel like it's not going anywhere. zhenkang Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 A quite modern piece to hear. It is actually to montonous for me with little tension, although the semiquavers for the strings is quite interesting. Quote
Maximus Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Sounds very minimalist. It's playable but you could always make it better by developing the theme. You could also add a second theme (like a contrasting staccato theme ) to make it so much more interesting. The harmony seems to be fine (since you're using medieval scales basically so it also sounds quite rustic). Yet tension could be added if you perhaps used accidentals here and there. Quote
