Jared Steven Destro Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 (edited) Hello, all. This is a piece I've been working on for a while for string quintet -- two violins, viola, cello, and double bass (the resources I have) -- and I hope for this to be a multi-movement piece in the future once I have more time to write. This is a quick jig that introduces material that I hope to carry over into other movements. Let me know what you guys think! Edited November 16, 2017 by Jared Steven Destro I reworked all double-stops throughout the piece, making it significantly easier for players, I believe. Maximus Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Love the time signature changes: they may throw someone off so a split second and it's certainly different from well known English Jigs but it's pretty darn interesting. Also, are you sure that the viola could pluck three strings at a time? Some of the passages look very ambitious Quote

I used the idea of a jig -- the dance itself -- as more of a starting point; from there, I developed ideas in a more classical mindset. Also, I'm not sure if you meant viola or the cello, though the sections with three-notes in the cello would be strummed, rather that really plucked (which I know is not a problem). If you meant a different passage, let me know though! Quote
Luis Hernández Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Nice piece. It's modern enough (for me). It flows well, just because of the good use of changing time signatures. Quote

Also, as a side-note for the general listener, I'm planning on re-working the piece, re-evaluating the double stops and a few other issues raised. Quote
