epii Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 This is a tune I wrote after watching the animated Disney movie "Inside Out". I love the blue "Sad" character. I used a flute-y instrument as a vocal guide so as not to forget the melody if I ever get around to finishing the lyrics and singing it. Just insert the word "sad - ness" when the flute-y thing comes in after the intro and everywhere else that melody occurs (there are many of them)... like this; "sad - ness blah, blah, blah, blah, blah..." Writing lyrics is not my favorite thing. I mix in my studio grade headphones.. I know, I know shame on me. So any comments on eq and levels would be much appreciated. Sepharite Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Wow very cute lol. I can definitely see this in an Pixar movie! Great melody, chord progressions... have you tried writing musicals? I think you have a knack at writing songs! Quote
epii Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 Thank you Sepharite for the kind words. I've not tried writing a musical.. wouldn't know where to begin seeing as I don't read music. But kind of you to suggest it all the same. :) This song drew on my love of Gilbert O'Sullivan and his "choppy" piano style.. I love his music, and also The Beatles, especially the "Penny Lane" trumpet solo. I'm a huuuge Beatle freak! Thanks again! You've encouraged me to post another piece. -Rick Quote
