celloman99 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Very nice piece! It sounds just like its title: a processional - very stately and elegant. I play cello and no wind instruments so I can't be of much help as to assessing the playability. However, I can tell you that the orchestration sounded very nice and looked fine at a glance. Very effective piece of music, good job! Quote
Alanog Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 Many thanks for your kind words. This is my first price for concert band. It was originally written for organ. The concert band arrangement has been tried out by the band in which I play clarinet and may be featured in some future concert - a very gratifying outcome! By the way I'm not actually a young composer - I'm 74 and still trying to learn how to arrange and compose! Quote
Alanog Posted February 3, 2018 Author Posted February 3, 2018 Many thanks for your kinds comment. Had the pleasure of having this played by a real live band - a most glorious experience! Quote
Alanog Posted February 22, 2018 Author Posted February 22, 2018 Many thanks for your comments. I will certainly proofread again as you recommended! Bifocals and floaters in my eyes don't help! Quote
HoYin Cheung Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 I love the "promenade" feeling of this piece! You remind me of Promenade in Pictures at an Exhibition. It seems to be a short journey towards something. I may call it an Intermezzo. The wind band is well-balanced and you did a great job! 1 Quote
Alanog Posted February 23, 2018 Author Posted February 23, 2018 Many thanks for your kind comments. The piece has had various titles but I settled on Procession because I imagined a procession of pilgrims toward a great cathedral and finally arriving at an alter. Quote
