Limits of a Viola?

What should I expect from a viola? Can It play a high F5? 

Can it play it well?

As far as I know, f'' (F5) is playable on the viola, however, you have to switch to second position to play it. In fourth position, you can reach a'' (A5), but higher notes are possible. (E.g. with the more difficult seventh position, you can reach d''' (D6).

Practically viola has a similar range of violin but is shifted a fifth lower. However, viola commonly has a thicker and darker texture than violins.
