Noah Brode Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 My submission for the Winter Competition. It was written pretty hastily over the past week or so, after previous attempts for the competition didn't pan out. All things considered, I liked where it went in the time that I had to write it. I hope you enjoy it. MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Sentiments > next PDF Sentiments-ScoreYC Winter 17-18 Competition Quote
Monarcheon Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Here are your scores! Unfortunately, due to lack of representation in the competition, I can't really offer you prizes, but I hope the detail in the feedback help you! PDF Scores Quote
Noah Brode Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 That’s fine about the prizes! It’s great to just get such detailed and thoughtful feedback. You are right (as usual) in your criticisms. I would like to get Finale or Sibelius soon, although it is so expensive. It seems like it will be a necessary step forward if I want to progress (and have real people play my music). Thank you for the review! Quote
Luis Hernández Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 I have listened to this work three or four times. I will only say what I feel while listening: part I is evocative to me, in a different context the constant tuplets would get me tired a bit, but the cello melodic line makes it necessary. This part "resolves" nicely in the second, which provides good contrast. Part III (Love) is well thought, the ascending-descending patterns of the piano bring a sort wf emotional waving. Part IV is like a transition to me, as a grief I think it's a bit "soft" (but it fits in the whole). Hope is written in a way that makes me feel it. I summary I think is a very good work, the transition between the parts is remarkable. In some parts the score is not very "clean" (Hope). Perhaps I would have enjoyed a more active piano part, the cello takes the lead role almost all the time. Quote
