Hello!

I would like to show you my new piece for piano and electronics. I'm waiting for your feedback and hopefully you enjoy it!

Me gusta el efecto que tienes al principio y cómo crece lentamente con más voces entrantes, pero se sentía cada vez más como una improvisación estándar en do menor a medida que avanzaba. Estaba esperando un verdadero desarrollo melódico y nunca lo obtuve.
Comenzó a ser realmente bueno cuando fuiste a forte brevemente con la electrónica, pero luego te alejaste por alguna razón. ¡Eso debería haber sido lo que siguió!
¿Que era el sentido de la electrónica aquí? ¿Te transmiten algo que tú, como el compositor, no puedes transmitir con el piano?
Es una pieza bien, había el potencial para tantas cosas mejores.

Its interesting because Im not using the cminor scale or the chords of that (at least no clear progressions in cm). But thank you so much for your words, I keep in mind for the next time, my friend.

Electronic part is essencial for me in this work because it helps me a lot to create this atmosphere (for example I like soft dissonance and if I use for example revb. I can sustain for more time, or I can include more long notes that will be impossible on piano, as you know violin can play a infinite long note but with piano is keep away...)

I didn't hear any synths, I did hear that you added effects to the piano recording.

Is that what you mean by "electronic"?

The piece is beautiful, I see that I'm not the only one who enjoys, as my piano teacher called it, "overuse the sustain pedal".

I believe that a piano sounds much better with added reverb,

and don't think that I ever produced a virtual piano or even a record of an actual piano without reverb.

Why is this a self portrait? Are you calm and melancholic?

It feels... artificial and exaggerated in a way. If you know what I mean.

The synth part covers only a very low frequency range. I use a pair of "basshead cans", and yet it was at times very hard to hear.

But I could hear it, and in my listening it served both as atmospheric padding and as a pedal to color the scales played over it.

I readily identified the colors of Aeolian, Dorian, Phrygian (very briefly), and then Lydian or its relative Locrian (this sounded interestingly ambiguous to me) in the early piece. In the late piece it got harder to pin them down with the faster changes, but more interesting.

It was live electronics, I used a microphone conected to guitar pedals and then to speakers...

It's named self portrait because this is the first time that I upload a piece in this aesthetic and I feel really identified on it.

My idea was to be soft the synth part, maybe was too much (?)

Sorry, that came out wrong.

It's easy to mistakenly expect the electronics to have a more upfront role when "piano and electronics" is in the title.

I think it calls for decent speakers, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It means you're not compromising your art.
