Some Guy That writes Music Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 (edited) "Ocean" Written when I was 12. My grandfather had written an opera about the story white elephant. (I had no idea what any of the opera meant at the time. I was so confused during the actually Opera) And my piece was the prelude to his hour long opera. I think the performers did a good job making a fairly poorly written song sound beautiful, even though it was written for string quintet. -Sorry about my profile pic, lol. Also I don't know where the score was, probably on my father's computer if I tried to find it. Edited May 16, 2018 by Some Guy That writes Music Quote
Rabbival507 Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Wow! You're such a lucky man! Getting your piece performed by such a wide range of instruments by the age of 12! By the age of 12 I didn't even know that one can just go and learn music somewhere! And until today (about six years later) none of my pieces got performed by anything that is not strings. Actually I had one little Flute and Piano piece that I performed together with a flute player I know, but not anything... like that. Consider yourself an extremely lucky man. Wait so you're 15? You're even younger than me! Guess there's a reason this place is called "Young Composers". Well done my friend, you're super talented. I wish I could compose like that by the age of 12. Getting your 7 minutes long piece performed as an overture for a massive opera by the age of twelve.... Wow, you must have felt like the happiest man on earth. Quote

My family has been composing/performing for about 300 years. Probably one of my fathers had his piece when he was 8 or something. My Dad has been teaching me the past year. Also I’ve been singing in choirs since before I went to kindergarten. I’ve been lucky enough to be sorrounded by music my whole life and been able to learn and perform in vastly different environments. Quote
