AntonioGarcía Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 (edited) Very happy to share the recording of one of my recent pieces, "Your room at midnight" for solo violin. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to tell me your honest feedback guys. Your room at midnight (soundcloud) * I'll share the score if someone is interesting! Edited May 16, 2018 by AntonioGarcía Quote
Rabbival507 Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 I wish I had a violin. Unfortunately I don't have one so I can't teach myself how to play it. It sounds interesting, I'd give it 9/10 because it sounds great but some parts are... to empty for me. I guess it's part of the piece's feeling, the room might feel very empty at night (guess that's also the reason it's only one violin), but for me it was a problem. And yet, 9/10 is a super high score! Except for that one little thing I think it's perfect and I even listened to it three times. Yes, I'd like to see the score if possible. 1 Quote

Could you tell me wich pasagges are "empty" for you' Will be interesting for me to know that. 🙂 But anyway so happy for your high score! Thank you. Yes you are almost right. I think if we use only one instrument is kind of more "intimate" and personal. Ok, during this week I'll upload the score also. Quote
Luis Hernández Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Hola Antonio, raro cuando el español es nuestro idioma, pero como el foro es en inglés, practiquemos... Not easy to fill a coherent and beautiful piece with such an instrument. The time frame is quite good, I mean the parts, connected and growing. Some techniques have been properly exploited in order to expression. I think this music has "soul". I understand what was said about the "silence" but I feel them as part of the music itself, necessary. Saludos. Quote

I can't really tell what parts are empty. Just... you know... the silent/almost-silent parts. 1 Quote

I also think that silence (as always) is part of the music itself; I said many time to the performer that don't worry about tempo: I prefere break the tempo to have correctly breaths. Muchas gracias! Willibald Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 A very interesting meditation which manages to keep the listener interested by varying intensity (dynamics, pulse), sprinkles of polyphony and melodic passages. The solo violin conveys the feeling of a lonely persons at midnight, combatting conflicting feelings but also its own sleepiness, well. However, the piece should not be any longer (it's alright as it is). 1 Quote

Sepharite Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Beautiful playing and composition. I'm getting Red Violin vibes. Are you a professional player? If not, why not? That said, the composition is beautiful. Great use of techniques and phrasing. I wasn't able to identity a theme, or motif throughout the piece; was one established? Congrats on the piece and performance. 1 Quote

I'm not the violinist who is playing. she is a master degree violinist student, but thak you, I'm also so happy for the performance, she played the piece as I imagined in my mind..: Thank you so much for your feedback. 🙂 Quote
