Ken320 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 I wanted to post this especially for those not yet acquainted with Stephen Sondheim's music, except for maybe Send In The Clowns. MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu 08 Every Day a Little Death > next Quote
Monarcheon Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 I'm going to be lucky enough to take an entire Sondheim seminar class in school. This is a very distinctive song. Quote
Ken320 Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 Wonderfull! I wish I was there. Be sure to address Jonathan Tunick's orchestrations. 1 Quote
Ravels Radical Rivalry Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 I am a huge Sondheim fan! My favorite composer of broadway stuff. Everything about this clip says Sondheim. I adore Send In the Clowns, but I love all the regulars like Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Anything Can Whistle, Sunday in the Park with George, Follies and Company and all those great musicals. I think he is the greatest that genre has ever seen. Quote
Ken320 Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 I had taken my girlfriend to see Into The Woods when it first came out in New York. And it really stuck with me. It's the only Broadway show I have ever seen. But I thought what a fantastic art form where you can make people cry, and then turn on a dime and diffuse it with a laugh. He is a very generous man when it comes to talking about his work and he always approaches it in the most logical way possible, yet he is an artist the way he solves 'musical problems' is how he puts it. 1 Quote
