Coeus Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 (edited) Wasn't sure where exactly to put this, but I figured here would be the best bet. Just a piece comprised of three ideas I came up with that seemed to mesh together well enough, so I hope you guys enjoy it! It doesn't have a name, so I hope that's okay. I'd consider it finished at least, but if this is against any rules, I'll be more than happy to ask for the post to be deleted. Because the sheets don't come out well in PDF form (for some reason, thank you Noteflight), you can find them here: https://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/f9fe44ac366c5c5b8287a4b092a637c2db79c1e1 Edited June 19, 2018 by Coeus MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu a thing > next 1 Quote
Ken320 Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 It's not that weird, it's pretty good! I would have liked to hear more activity in the bass as the drummer ad lib'd, or soloed. It would make a tighter rhythm section to have the two play together in those times. Quote
ron in wa Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I like the piece. "Weird" is another way of saying not following all the conventions, which IMHO is what is needed to be creative. I'm puzzled by the slow part at 1:30. It isn't long enough or developed enough to be a contrasting section. What did you intend? Quote
markstyles Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Yes, some good ideas. I agree with Ken320. The drummer is overplaying, and should be working more with the bass player to make the piece more cohesive.. LOVE the end downslide.. Quote

Well, I only took issue with the lack of bass lines during all the motion. I like aggressive drumming where the drums take a more prominent role. I'm a big fan of Tony Williams, always exciting.
