Rabbival507 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Finally! These small performances might not look like the greatest thing for you, but that's the first time my piece was performed by good players! Quote
Luis Hernández Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 No, man. It's always amazing to have a composition played live. It's a very nice work, neoclassical I would say... The performers have made great work, particularly the first violin (nice ascendign phrases). And the piece itself is beautiful with climax and other restful contrasting parts. Congrats, Thanks for sharing ! 1 Quote
RaphaelWalsh Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Wonderful little pieces! You must feel very proud I'm sure. All the best -R 1 Quote
pateceramics Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Terrific! What a great opportunity to see your music take on life and breath! 1 Quote

Maarten Bauer Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I must have felt great to hear the music played by professional musicians! They put effort in your music and it is obvious that they like your music as well. Sometimes composers forget to compose music that is also fun for the players, not only for the audience. You achieved this! Quote

You achieved this! 😄 You know, one of my constant reviewers tells me to stop thinking about the fun of the players. "It doesn't matter", he says,"you should give boring/extremely difficult notes to your players, because what comes first is the way the piece sounds/the level of the piece." I try to put the comfort of my players first, I don't want them to think "oh... this again" every time they need to practice playing my piece. Of course, I might pull some players out of their comfort zone for a moment or two if it's important for the piece, but I try to keep my pieces fun to play. Quote

In my opinion, there needs to be a balance between music that can be enjoyed by playing and the level of the piece. I understand what your reviewer says, but I would then rather say that musicians can have fun, because they can participate in the whole of the piece and not in their part. Quote
