Op109 Nr2 Prelude

Hello everyone, I am back, this is my new piece of music, hope you like it.

This sound brilliant. But excessive in some sense. There are dozens of ideas here, although sometimes the initial motif comes back. The feeling is of a growing piano firework. That's just my impression.

The piece is quite difficult, I think some parts are not possible. For example the initial 3 against 2 in eights with the same hand, while the left one does other things, I don't know... Philip Glass writes that using both hands. Some polyrhythms are also frightening (6/3/5) with polyphony and octaves. So quick octaves are many time unplayable, I see even ninths)... well, if I were Liszt I could. By the way there is a part that seems inspired by Rachmaninov (I even think I identigy a motif by him). The part in 7-tuplets (I don't know how to say it in English, "septillos" in Spanish) is much more convincing, it sounds great and it is written for both hands.

There is a mixture of inspiration here, the Bb pedal in m. 17 - 35 seems taken from Voiles by Debussy. It's good to take resources from the masters.

I also think that, since the rhythm is so fast, a more detailed writing (accents, dynamics) would make it better.

Some pedal marks are too long, for example in the first part m 5 on... those chord in the bottom plus tremolando, plus melody, etc... A bit mess. The part with the constant Bb becomes confusing because of the long pedal. Sometimes I like to use more or less long pedal marks, but I always do it with a few notes, in high register and in piano, unless you want a dramatic effect (not melodic).

In summary, I see influences from romanticism, impressionism, minimalism. Not a bad thing, of course, although one important issue when you take different languages or systems is the transitions. One must take care whan coming from harmony in fifths and going to triadic chords, or whatever.

It sounds really good, harmonies are quite interesting. I would have restricted the ideas a bit.

Finally, I'm "obsessed" with writing playable scores (sometimes I go too far, and I rectify). But other people don't care. I don't know what others will say, but the question is not this piece is really hard, but if some spots are possible to play. Some things that seem easier than others can be impossible: try to play your first bars yourself, just the right hand, ....
