Hi everyone.

Recently I saw an article in the YC Wiki about a set of 24 Preludes and Fugues written by different members of YC.

Later, I released they were from about a decade ago, and I think we should write a new set.

If anyone is interested to take part in this, signal your interest by commenting below. I will create a club which people can join and we will hopefully be able to create a full set.

It would be interesting to see how people approach this, and we would post any works in the forums for critique as normal.

I hope we can do this,

Scott

Although I am new to the study of the fugue, I would like to join. I will not be able to write anything directly. (I am currently studying the "Exhibition"
But prelude I can. It's easier. I would like to suggest an idea:
Do something like Bach's "Art of Fugue." Let's find a simple theme and work only with this for the 24 preludes and fugues.
But we can find a right topic about fugue.

We just have to set the rules.
I think we should talk about the fugue style.
Modern, Classic? Also define the musical motif on which we will work.

I will join as well. Will we each be assigned a key signature (or more than one, depending on the number of participants)?

(Edit: I only ask because the number 24 immediately made me think of Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier.)

This sounds interesting. I am already working on a prelude, 2 actually. One of them is in A minor and is written in 5/4 time. The other one I am working is in C minor and is entirely in octaves.

I'm in.

Maybe the fugue might be a trouble (I know some counterpoint, but not good at it), since i know his structure and how works I can at least make a fugue, the problem will be many mistakes as it will be my first, and that, but I will pleased a lot.

- We will define a theme?

- How will the asigment of key work? If possible I would like D minor (that's the key :P)
- Which style we will use? Baroque? Any classical one (romanticism, classical, baroque, etc)? Or free to use?

- There's a restriction, minimum for voices? (theres exist 1 voiced fugues, or 2, shouldn't it at least be 3?)

If given the theme I think i can make some good stuff for the prelude, at least.
