Muhammadreza Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I love the way Malmsteen or Jason Becker play neoclassical riffs or licks. I listened to their music deeply, and I found a little music theory hacks, and I used one of them (i-iv-V) to compose a short piece. I wanna know your opinions about the piece. Monarcheon Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 The abrupt change of the harmonic rhythm at the end feels awkward, especially since the other voices drop out. i - iv - V isn't really that much of a music theory hack; it's decently standard, but makes for a great way to add a three chord (12-bar) harmonic structure instead of the typical 4 chord. I'm curious as to what you find "neoclassical" about this necessarily. 1 Quote

I actually found this structure in some licks from famous neoclassical guitar players like Yingwie Malmsteen or Jason Becker. This is why I called it neoclassical. Quote
